About HFL
The Hills Football League (HFL) is an Australian Rules Football league based in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia. It represents football clubs and communities throughout the Adelaide Hills region.
The league coordinates senior, women's and junior competitions across its affiliated clubs, with fixtures, results and ladders managed through PlayHQ.

The Hills Football League Umpires Association (HFLUA) has a proud history of providing umpires across all three disciplines — field, boundary and goal umpiring — throughout the Hills Football League.
The HFLUA also provides a pathway for aspiring umpires to develop their skills and progress to higher levels of the game, including the SANFL and AFL.
Get involved in umpiring
Umpiring is a great way to get paid, keep fit and stay involved in the game — with one of the best seats in the house.
New umpires are always welcome. Those starting out are paired with experienced umpires to help them learn, build confidence and develop their skills. All you need to get started is enthusiasm, a basic level of fitness and an understanding of the laws of the game.
The HFLUA works closely with the Hills Football League Board to ensure matches are officiated in accordance with HFL By-Laws and to promote consistent umpiring standards across all grades.
Opportunities for junior umpires
Junior umpiring provides a great opportunity for young footballers to become involved in another side of the game while developing confidence, fitness and decision-making skills.
Junior umpires can field umpire Under 12 and Under 11 matches, with Under 11 umpiring introduced for the 2025 season. As many of these matches are played on Friday nights, junior umpires can gain field umpiring experience without conflicting with their own Saturday football commitments.
A Grade boundary umpiring is another option for junior footballers, allowing them to play in the morning before boundary umpiring an A Grade match in the afternoon. Boundary umpires can earn approximately $60–$120 per game.
